The Artist

Hello friend,

I would like to introduce myself; my name is Nate Van Zweden. I am the oldest of four, two brothers and a sister. We grew up on a small farm in Northwest Iowa, where dad had a small farm/wood shop. 

His idea of birthday presents was to buy tools for us to make our own toys. Back then the local grocery store’s produce would come in cardboard boxes with wooden sides. Somehow, we ended up with a lot of those sides that we could make our toys with. We spent many hours sketching toy farm animals, guns and knives then cutting them out and promptly losing them in the grove. 

Over the years my love of building and creating turned into and engineering degree where I get to design and build to my hearts content. Although I work with steel for my “real” job, my love of woodworking still bubbles to the surface in my spare time.

I say spare time because my wife and I have three children, two boys and a little girl. She owns and operates Alissa’s Flower Farm and Designs on our acreage. With the kids, farm, and woodshop we stay out of trouble that is for sure.
